Technical assistance for the adhesion of the Tourist Observatory of Navarra in the International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories of the UNWTO

Client: Government of Navarra

Country and date of execution: Navarra, Spain, October – December 2018

Category: Planning and Measuring

Project description

Our work consisted of assisting the Tourism team of the General Directorate of Tourism and Commerce of the Government of Navarra in the preparation of the candidacy of the Tourist Observatory of Navarra to be part of the International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories of the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations – INSTO.

At that time there was no tourism observatory in the Spanish state that was part of INSTO, Navarra achieved it in 2019 and it was the first.

In this case we had deep knowledge of the Navarra tourism observatory, in other destinations we first started with interviews to understand what is desired with the observatory, what is currently being measured and what else is planned to be undertaken in the short term.

Another important part of this work is to dialogue with the general management and the management of the observatory to plan the development of the observatory to progress in what it means to be part of INSTO, because entering is not the end, but the beginning.

Finally, we develop the documentation that is required, in coordination with the client, and we support the necessary contacts to advance the candidacy.

-For us it is a pleasure to support destinations that want to advance in the measurement of sustainable tourism, and also be part of international networks from which they can capture ideas, compare approaches between peers and establish relationships for other areas such as planning or marketing with other places. of the world.
